Ujitawara, Kyoto Prefecture. This matcha is a special creation made exclusively for Hatoya by a farmer with whom our owner, Nobu, personally harvests tea leaves every year. Typically, this tea is processed into high-grade gyokuro, making this matcha version a rare delight. From the very first sip, you will notice its distinct character—a remarkable, milk-like sweetness that sets it apart from ordinary matcha. It offers a deep, rich umami with minimal bitterness or astringency, resulting in a flavor profile of incredible depth and complexity.

Incredible, I absolutely love it... If only DHL didn't apply custom duty I would buy much more.

Scent: Fresh marine smell (Not fishy), very fragrant.
Taste: As advertised (Umami-forward, creamy), literally as-if I'm drinking a nice gyokuro tea.
Personal remarks: Best prepared as a warm koicha to really enjoy the fullness of Tsuyuhikari. Pairing with Kokuto as a sweetener works well too, enhances the body and creaminess of the drink.
Not really sure how to feel about this matcha. it's unique, but not enough to make me want to buy it again.
